Story Part One
From Summer Job to Master Craft
What began as a summer job in the mid-nineties during his time at Brandeis University quickly evolved into a lifelong passion for Mark Lally. He discovered that stonework was more than a service; it’s a craft, an art form, and a creative outlet. After graduation, Mark traded his plans for law school to follow this passion and founded Millstone Landscape, a company he ran for over 20 years before passing it on to one of his first employees.
Mark’s focus has now shifted to Adaptive Outdoor Concepts, a venture that allows him to provide personal, one-on-one attention to homeowners across Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. This isn’t a new endeavor for Mark; it’s an extension of a lifetime dedicated to craftsmanship.
Story Part Two
A Better Way to Build Your Outdoor Dream
As outdoor living grew in popularity, Mark recognized a major challenge: custom stonework, especially for outdoor kitchens, was often too expensive and time-consuming for the average family. The intricate cuts and detailed edging required for a beautiful finish meant long, disruptive projects and high costs. Mark knew there had to be a better way.
Mark spent over a year developing a new process to make premium, handcrafted outdoor features more attainable. The solution was to move 90% of the work off-site into a specialized workshop. There, he and his team can make precision cuts and fabricate the core of each project year-round, regardless of the New England weather.
